Safety training:
Begin by educating children on the proper use and maintenance of their electric wheelchairs. This should include instructions on how to safely get in and out of the chair, how to properly charge the battery, and how to troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
Teach children about the importance of wearing protective gear, such as helmets, elbow and knee pads, while operating their electric wheelchair.
Discuss the importance of following rules and guidelines when racing, such as staying within designated lanes and not colliding with other racers.
Hand-eye coordination and mental skills development:
Set up obstacle courses or other challenges that require children to navigate their electric wheelchairs through tight spaces or around obstacles. This will help them build up their hand-eye coordination and improve their ability to control the chair.
Encourage children to think critically and problem-solve as they navigate the course, for example, by having them find the most efficient route or by introducing challenges that require them to make quick decisions.
Use mental exercises, such as memory games or puzzles, to help children develop their cognitive skills and improve their ability to focus and concentrate while racing.
Racing:
Once children have mastered the basics of electric wheelchair operation and have developed their hand-eye coordination and mental skills, they can begin participating in actual races.
Set up a track or course and divide children into age-appropriate groups.
Hold regular races, keeping track of each child's times and progress.
Encourage friendly competition and sportsmanship among the children.
As children's skills improve, consider introducing more challenging courses or incorporating additional elements, such as jumps or sharp turns.
