Vincent Patrick "Rocco" Lopresti is the founder of Indyenableus500 and a passionate advocate for professional electric wheelchair racing. Born on March 17th, 1965, in Fort Worth, Texas, Rocco had a passion for sports from an early age. He was an accomplished gymnast and participated in various sports before a tragic accident in high school changed his life forever.
At the age of 16, Rocco broke his neck in a gymnastics accident at Trinity High School in Euless, Texas. This left him paralyzed from the chest down and bound to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Despite this life-altering injury, Rocco refused to give up on his passion for sports and went on to become a successful athlete and entrepreneur.
Rocco's determination and entrepreneurial spirit led him to participate in the 2005 and 2006 NASA Xprize Space Elevator and Centennial Challenges. These challenges involved developing and testing innovative technologies to build a space elevator capable of carrying people and cargo into space.
Inspired by his own experiences with physical disability and a passion for sports, Rocco founded Indyenableus500 with the goal of creating a nationwide professional electric wheelchair sports association. He recognized the need for more opportunities for individuals with physical disabilities to participate in sports and physical activity, and he saw electric wheelchair racing as a perfect solution.
Through his leadership and vision, Indyenableus500 has become a leading organization for electric wheelchair racing, providing opportunities for individuals with physical disabilities to compete in a supportive and inclusive environment. Rocco's ultimate goal is to establish electric wheelchair racing as a recognized and respected professional sport in the United States, with widespread participation and national recognition.
Today, Rocco continues to be a driving force behind Indyenableus500, using his experience, passion, and entrepreneurial spirit to inspire and support others with physical disabilities to pursue their dreams and live life to the fullest
